What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing form that draws upon universal life force energy to benefit people of any age and in any state of health. The Reiki practitioner channels this energy into the client's body where it then offers nurturing and support for the balance of mind, body and emotions.
What is a Reiki session like?
To receive Reiki, most people lie on a massage table, fully clothed. The technique is adaptable so it can be done in just about any setting; sitting in a chair or hospital bed, for example. The practitioner will then place their hands on or above different areas of the body. Actual physical contact is not necessary and is the choice of the client. There are obvious areas where touching is inappropriate and the boundaries of client and practitioner are strictly observed.
The experience of Reiki energy varies from person to person. Some feel it as warmth, others as coolness. There may be tingling, vibration or pulsation or you may feel nothing at all. If a person is not feeling any sensation it simply means they are not particularly sensitive to the feel of the energies. It is possible that you may feel powerful sensations or emotions during or after a session. Many experience a profound sense of relaxation.
What do I have to do?
To benefit from Reiki you need only to be open and willing to receive the energy. If you have questions or concerns at any time, during the session or afterwards, please let me know. Talking about what you have experienced during a session is always welcome to the degree of which you are comfortable sharing. Anything shared is private and confidential.
What Reiki can mean for you
Reiki can assist in alleviating pain and stress as well as promoting restful sleep and relaxation. Relaxation in itself provides many benefits including a heightened sense of well-being, release of painful muscle tension and relief from anxiety. In addition, relaxation has been shown to help restore immune function and improve circulation, enhancing healing throughout the body.
